Nelva Lamar Welch

TURBEVILLE – Nelva “Petey” Lamar Welch, 44, husband of Kristi Thomas Welch, died on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at his residence. Born February 17, 1977, in Manning, he was a son of Cassie Barwick Cruz and step-father Felipe Cruz, and the late Nelva Welch. He attended New Covenant Church and was a mechanic at Donny’s Truck and Auto. He is survived by his wife of seven years; three daughters, Taylor Welch of Kingstree, Cassey Lynn Poston (R.J.) of Hartsville, and Kaitlyn M. Welch (Willie) of Turbeville; one step-son, Gage Moody (Brooke) of Bennettsville; one step-daughter, Ansley Morse of Sumter; three grandchildren, Raelynn Poston, Rowan Poston, and Jamie Frierson; one sister, Cynthia M. McKnight (Ricky) of Lake City; and one step-brother, Cody Welch. A memorial service will be held 3 P.M. on Thursday, December 23, 2021, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Cantey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (2 – 3 P.M.) at the Funeral Home and at other times at 1261 James Road, Turbeville.
