Turbeville, SC – Norman Osborne, aged 87, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. Born on Friday, August 20, 1937, in Florence County, South Carolina, Norman was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, known for his dedication to family and work as a licensed contractor. Norman proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he returned to his community, where he utilized his skills and commitment as a reputable licensed contractor. His work has left a lasting legacy throughout Turbeville and the surrounding areas, where he was highly regarded for his hard work and dedication. Norman was known for his unwavering integrity, his strong work ethic, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. He could always be counted on to offer assistance to neighbors, and his kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He believed deeply in the value of hard work and took pride in providing for his loved ones, always ensuring his family came first. One of Norman’s greatest joys in life was spending time fishing. There was something special about the calm of a pond and the thrill of catching fish which he would share with his family. His love of fishing was a reflection of his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and his desire to spend quality time with those he cared about. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Susie Mae Lynch Osborne; his son, Wayne Osborne of Olanta; and his daughter Barbara O. Coker (Larue) of Olanta. Norman was a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren: Travis Osborne, Christopher Reynolds, Jarod Green, Jessica Floyd (Zack), and Jennifer Coker; and a proud great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren: Kadie Floyd, Libbie, Logan, and Lorri Reynolds, Devin Coker, Destinee Duncan, and Delayna Duncan. He was also blessed to have met his great-great-grandchild, Dutton Coker. Norman is also survived by his brother, Ronald Osborne (Claudia) of Turbeville, and a very special nephew, Joe Roberson. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Moultrie Osborne and Mildred Barrineau Osborne; a brother, Russell Osborne; and two sisters, Geraldine Roberson and Barbara Elaine Osborne. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Norman’s pallbearers: Riley Roberson, Brody Roberson, Derin Roberson, Jeffrey Coker, Stanley Barrineau, and Brandon Floyd. Honorary pallbearers include M.D. Floyd, Ray Welch, Allen Lynch, Keith Wingard, Allen Coker, and Junior Barrineau. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church, where the funeral service will also take place at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Those who wish to honor Norman's memory may make donations to the Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church at 2144 Horse Branch Road, Turbeville, SC 29162 for the church’s cemetery fund or Bibles for Uganda.
