Peggy Barfield Mckenzie

LAKE CITY – Peggy Barfield McKenzie, 75, wife of Dalton Patrick McKenzie, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 17, 2021. Born November 27, 1946, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. “H.B.” Barfield and the late Annie Faye Matthews Barfield. Peggy was a loving wife and devoted mother. Her favorite role was being a loving Nana to her four grandchildren. They brought her immeasurable joy and were the apple of her eye. She also loved her fur babies down through the years, and they held a special place in her heart. She was a member of New Town Free Will Baptist Church and was a retired insurance agent. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who loved her. She is survived by her husband of 54 years; one son, Patrick McKenzie (Teresa) of Florence; one daughter, Patti Parker (David) of Lake City; four grandchildren, Gabby, Jackson, Leah and Liam; two brothers, Ray Barfield of Scranton and Bradley Barfield (Susie) of Lake City; one sister-in-law, Sandra Barfield of Scranton; and a number of loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold Barfield and Micky Barfield; and one sister-in-law, Jeanette Barfield. A funeral service will be held 3 P.M. on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at New Town Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Cooper and Rev. Tim Nail officiating. Burial will follow in Baldwin-Matthews Cemetery, Lake City. Pallbearers will be Loy Hayes, John Hayes, Legare Hayes, Dalton McFaddin, Joey McLaughlin, and Brad Suter. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary of New Town Free Will Baptist Church and at other times at the residence, 3272 Jennie Road, Lake City.
