Pressley Charles Thigpen, age 65, of Sumter, South Carolina, went to be with his Lord on June 9, 2016. The son of Charlie and Winnie Coker Thigpen he was born and lived most of his life in the Sumter and Turbeville, South Carolina area. He is survived by his sons, Whitney Shay Thigpen (Milena), Donald Lee Thigpen, and Anthony Paul Thigpen, his brother, Clay Evan Thigpen, his sisters, Vella Thigpen Mangum (Grant), Linda Thigpen Little, Emily Thigpen Booth (Bill), Ellen Thigpen Jahn (Larry), Katrina Thigpen Moore (Don), Wendy Thigpen Stogner (Phil), his beloved grandchildren, Katherine and Andrew, 11 nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Edwin and David Thigpen, his sister Sally Mae Thigpen, and his son Charles Bradley Thigpen. Pressley grew up on the family farm but became well-known in the welding and fabrication business. He remained close to his family roots until he recently decided to spend some time with his children and grandchildren in Orlando, Florida. He had recently retired and loved to fish in his retirement years. A Graveside service will be held at 3:30pm, Friday, June 24, 2016 at Gibbons Cemetery outside of Turbeville, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta.
