SCRANTON – Rebecca Addie Strickland Elmore, 88, widow of M.H. Elmore, died Monday, August 23, 2021, at her son’s residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 17, 1932, in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Jake Franklin Strickland, Sr. and the late Esther Vause Strickland. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who loved her family. She is survived by three sons, Ed Elmore (Charmaine), Hugh Elmore (Betty) and Bryan Elmore (Teresa) all of Scranton; one daughter, Libby Foster (Rohan) of Cayce; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Jakie Strickland (Winnie Ann) of Scranton; one sister, Naomi Moore (David) of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Ryan Elmore; and a sister, Juanita S. Sparrow. A funeral service will be held 11 A.M. on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. David Moore and Rev. Todd Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary on Thursday and at other times at the residence, 2120 N. Bethel Road, Scranton.
