NEW ZION – Rev. Dallas Junior Filyaw, husband of Carolyn M Filyaw, received his heavenly reward on Friday, July 9, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born July 3, 1945, in Kingstree, he was a son of the late William Dallas Filyaw and the late Mary Sims Filyaw. He was the founding pastor and a charter member of Central Holiness Free Will Baptist Pentecostal Faith Church. He was a minister with the Free Will Baptist Pentecostal Faith Conference for over 47 years. He retired from Santee Print Works as a foreman. He loved the ministry and pastoring his flock. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Torey Filyaw (Angie) of Sumter, Derrick Filyaw (Kathy) of New Zion and Jason Filyaw (Lynette) of Sumter; five grandchildren, Drew Filyaw of Sumter, Caleb Filyaw (Leah) of Manning, Adam Filyaw (Amber) of Sumter, Rebecca Filyaw of New Zion, Hunter Filyaw of Sumter; four great grandchildren; two special boys, Van Gardner and Cantey Gardner of Manning; two Brothers, William Filyaw (Shirley) and Edward Filyaw both of Lake City; two sisters, Pauline Thomas of North Carolina and Elizabeth Godwin (Ronald) of Olanta; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leroy Filyaw; and two sisters, Catherine Parker and Betty Richburg. A funeral service will be held 2pm Sunday, July 11, 2021, in Dennis Memorial Tabernacle on the campgrounds of the Free Will Baptist Pentecostal Faith Conference Center, 3860 Puddin Swamp Road, Turbeville, SC with Rev. Ray Hutto, Rev. Arthur McElveen and Rev. Stacey Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the New Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Pentecostal Faith Church Cemetery in Barrineau. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in Dennis Memorial Tabernacle and at other times at the home 2866 Newman Branch Road, New Zion, SC. Pallbearers will be Jerry Osmundson, Joey Osmundson, Billy Filyaw, Shawn Reed, Robbie Reed, and Timmy Filyaw. The family request that memorials be made to Central Holiness Church, 1597 Barrineau Road, Lake City, SC 29560. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the Clarendon Team of McLeod Hospice for their dedication, love and care over the past year.
