Rev. Samuel Jerome McKenzie Rev. Samuel Jerome McKenzie age 78, died July 16, 2010 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock PM today at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel in Olanta with burial in Olanta Baptist Church Cemetery, directed by FLOYD FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be held from 2 o'clock PM until time for the service. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Samuel Jerome McKenzie, Sr. and Lydia Emma Driggers McKenzie. He was a graduate of Coker College and Southeastern Baptist Seminary, was an ordained minister having served at Rosehill Baptist Church, Nesmith Baptist Church, Brownsville Baptist Church, Neeses Baptist Church, he served as interim pastor at Union Crossroads Baptist Church, Olanta Baptist Church, where he was a member, and New Town Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond K. McKenzie. Surviving are his wife, Bertie Lee Jones McKenzie of Lake City, Alvina M. (Michael) Pressley of Lake City, a son, James Sheldon McKenzie of Lake City, two sisters, Cecile Thigpen of Charleston, and Lois Holtzchieter of Myrtle Beach, two grandchildren, Matthew and Samuel.
