Rev. William Alonzo Wallace

TURBEVILLE – Rev. William Alonzo Wallace, 89, husband of Marilyn Joann Rhinehardt Wallace entered his heavenly home on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Covenant Place Nursing Facility. Born May 6, 1932, in Sanford, NC, he was a son of the late William McPhail Wallace and the late Myrtle Louise Love Wallace. He was a member of Pilot Baptist Church and was a retired Baptist minister having served churches in North Carolina and was the former Missions Director for the Tar River Baptist Association. He was a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Seminary with a Masters in Divinity. Surviving is his wife of sixty-eight years; two daughters, Carolyn Wallace Newsome (Mike) of Turbeville, SC, Marilyn Wallace Holland (Eugene) of Rocky Mount, NC; four grandchildren, Jason Newsome (Kimberly) and Blake Newsome (April) all of Turbeville, Morgan Williams (Ted) of Nashville, NC, and Tyler Holland of Charlotte, NC; six great grandchildren, Maddie Newsome, Graham Newsome, Darcy Newsome, Willa Newsome, Riley Williams and Levi Williams. A graveside service will be held 3 P.M. on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Rocky Mount Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev Shelby Stephens and Rev. Kevin Byers officiating. A memorial service and visitation will be held at a later date at the Pilot Baptist Church in Zebulon, NC to be announced by the funeral home. The family request that memorial be made to the North Carolina Baptist Assembly (Ft. Caswell), 100 Caswell Beach Road, Oak Island, NC 29465. Or to the Pilot Baptist Church 8103 NC Highway 395, Zebulon, NC 27597. The family would like to extend special thanks to Covenant Place, Sumter, SC, Amedysis Hospice, Sumter, Sc; Beebe Coker; Tina Thompson; and Jacki Evans for their love and care they provided Rev. Wallace and the family. CDC guidelines for the COVID-19 virus and social distancing will be observed during the service. All attendees will be required to wear a mask.
