Rev. Murrell Young

Rev. Murrell Young Lake City - Rev. Lauren Murrell Young age 91, died April 13, 2016 at his home after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday April 16, 2016 at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel in Olanta with burial in New Town Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM Friday at the funeral Home and at other times at the home at 1101 Windright Road in Lake City. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late James Nathaniel Young and Retha Driggers Young. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, a retired farmer, businessman, and ordained minister for 38 years, pastoring several churches in the area, he was an honorary member of Eastern Conference of Freewill Baptist Assn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Coker Young, a grandson, Ronald Allen Young, brothers, Kenneth Young, Bishop Young, Roger Dale Young, and a sister, Mary Louise Young. Surviving are five daughters, Margaret Young (Charles) Lynch, Harriet Young, and Reba Young Owens all of Lake City, Myra Young (Glenn) Hewett of Wilmington, NC, and Connie Young (Larry) Haselden of Florence, Two sons, Robert A. (Roxanna) Young of Summerton, and Fred (Cindy) Young of Columbia, two sisters, Margie Young Wilson and Carolyn Young Price both of Summerton. Twenty grandchildren, twenty-six Great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
