Reverend James Carnell Floyd

Reverend James Carnell Floyd New Zion Reverend James Carnell Floyd, age 81, was received by our Lord on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at The Freewill Baptist of The Pentecostal Faith Conference Headquarters in Turbeville. Officiating will be Pastor Gregg Cannon and Pastor Donald Duncan, with burial in Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. The family will receive friends beginning at 9am Wednesday at The Freewill Baptist of The Pentecostal Faith Conference. Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Wheeler and Ettie Floyd of New Zion. Reverend Floyd was a Veteran of the United States Air Force where he served from 1951 - 1955. He was a minister in the Freewill Baptist of Pentecostal Faith Conference since 1966 where he also served as the Superintendent of the Conference from 1974 until 1994. He was predeceased by his brothers; W. Carlisle, J. Burdell, S. Bethea, J.L. and Adrion Floyd, and sister; Elise Powell. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Pearcy Lee Floyd of New Zion. Two sons, Gregg (Merri) Floyd of Sumter and Stacey (Vicki) Floyd of Gable. Two daughters; Donna (Glenn) Prosser of Sumter and Denise (Mike) Knotts of Dalzell. Two brothers; Ben Floyd and David Floyd both of New Zion. A sister; Winnie Mae Bagnal of New Zion. Nine grandchildren; Tiffany Prosser, Emily Prosser, Amy Reardon, Wendy Gould, Alyssa Floyd, Ashlan Floyd, Amberlee Floyd, Austin Floyd and Brantley Knotts. One great grandchild, Cameron Reardon. The family would like to thank all of the Nurses, Doctors and the Hospice floor of the Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia for their concern and care.
