Richard Legrand Elmore, age 87, passed Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his home after an illness. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2019, at Olanta Baptist Church, directed by Floyd Funeral Home. Born in Florence County, he was the son of the late Mattison Hugo Elmore Sr. and Beatrice Lee Elmore. He was a farmer with an Agricultural degree from Florence Darlington Technical College. After retiring from farming, he became an avid bird dog trainer for members of the community and beyond. He was a member of Olanta Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Cribb, Mary Cliff Johnson, Mary Alice Harrelson; two brothers, M.H. Elmore and Frank Elmore. He is survived by his wife, Imogene C. Elmore of Olanta; two daughters, Vonda Elmore Davis of Columbia, and Carrie Elmore Floyd of Murrells Inlet; one sister, Rose-Marie Conyers of Scranton; one brother, Mack Elmore of Olanta; seven grandchildren, Abby Y. Linden, Shea Carlyle Yarborough Jr., Loren Y. Causey, Richard D. Floyd Jr., Coleman D. Floyd, Sarah-Ellen Floyd, Caroline S. Floyd; four great-grandchildren, Heyden and Kennedy Linden, Aiden McCaskill, and Liam Yarborough. He will be missed by his family and friends.
