Ruby Thigpen Chandler 88, of Olanta, went to Heaven on Wednesday April 1st, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 22, 1926, in Clarendon County, and was the daughter of the late Reverend W. H. and Bertha Thigpen. Her work encompassed Wentworth Mfg. Co., the food service system for the Olanta School district, and H D's Quick Stop. She was an active member of Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church which served as her strong religious anchor. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hampton Duncan (H D) Chandler and her brothers, John Hugh Thigpen, Charles Thigpen, Reverend Delbert Thigpen and Donald Thigpen. Surviving are her loving children, Tommy Rodney (Dianne) Chandler of Florence, Ina (Bobby) Gause of Coward, Joan (Frank) Porter of Canton,Michigan and Hampton Larry Chandler of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, John (Kelly) Porter, Shannon (Marcus) Blick, Jennifer Porter, Jody (Shay) Chandler, Tammi (Blake) Gibson; twelve great -grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Lee Coker of Sumter, SC, Willie Mack (Dorothy Mae) Thigpen of Maxton, NC and Ernest (Mary) Thigpen of Bishopville, SC and a sister-in-law Dennie Thigpen of Manning, SC. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, April 03, 2015 at Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow at the Thomas Cemetery directed by Floyd Funeral Home.
