OLANTA – Rudy Hudson Floyd, 79, husband of Georgia Hardee Floyd, entered his eternal rest on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at McLeod Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born April 6, 1943, in Kingstree, SC, he was a son of the late Randelson Allison Floyd and the late Alma Woodrow Wilson Floyd. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict; was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, assistant Sunday school teacher for the Men’s Class, and served on many committees in the church. He was a member of the Olanta Lions Club; was a little league baseball coach; and served on the Administrative Board for Hudgens Academy. He was the owner and operator of J & P Auto Sales. He was affectionately known as “RuRu” by his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years; one daughter, Jessica (Daniel) Smith of Chapin; one son, Perry Allen (Jessica) Floyd of Florence; five grandchildren, Laurel, Isabelle, Ella, Parker, and Jax; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Woody Jean Floyd and Jerry Tomlinson; and two brothers, Randy Floyd and Franky Floyd. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Dennis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Carter, Woody Allen Floyd, John Matthews, Benji Floyd, Jessie Wilson, Vernon DeFee, and Jax Floyd. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Bethel Baptist Men’s Sunday School Class and the Deacons of the church. A visitation will be held from 6 – 8PM on Saturday evening at Floyd Funeral Home and at other times at the residence, 1844 N. Bethel Church Road, Olanta, SC. The family will informally receive guest at the church on Sunday from 1 – 2pm. The family request that memorials be made to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Bethel Baptist Building Fund, P.O.
