SANTEE – Sadie Bell McElveen Thigpen, 71, wife of Ellis Lamar Thigpen, entered her eternal rest on Friday, December 15, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born, February 5, 1952 in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Wiley Arthur McElveen and the late Ila Mae Welch McElveen. She loved her Lord and family. She was a homemaker and a loving, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Holly Hill, she served as secretary for five years, and was a member of the Womens Auxillary. She is survived by her husband of 53 years; four children, Holly (Michael) Salmon of LaGrange, NC, Hope Thigpen, Christopher Thigpen and Sara Thigpen all of the home; two granddaughters, Emily (Chase) Couvillion of TN, and Megan (Mitchel) Smith of Salisbury, NC; one grandson, Nicholas Salmon of Winterville, NC; three great-granddaughters, Rue, Lanie, Melody; four sisters, Sherrille M. (Oneil) Ward, Iva Jane M.(Jimmy) Ham, and Deborah M. (Wayne) Vinson all of Manning, Beth M. (Ronald) Coker of Turbeville; three brothers, Wiley Gerald (JoAnn) McElveen of Turbeville, W. A. “Bill” (Terry) McElveen of Lincoln University, PA, and Donald (Linda) McElveen of New Zion; many nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Laurice M. Feagin; two brothers in-law, Billy Feagin, and Cecil Atkinson; one niece, Traci Ham Coffey; and one nephew, Quentin Coker. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Pine Dale Pentecostal Holiness Church with Reverend Todd Hodge, and Reverend Allen Lynch, officiating and visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Pine Dale Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Hiott, Michael Atkinson, Andrew McElveen, Wade Coker, Lin Ham, and Devin Thigpen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Thigpen, Michael Salmon, Nick Salmon, Mitchell Smith.
