Timmonsville Sara Vause Granger, age 91, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 14, 2019, at her home following an illness. Services will be held Sunday, March 17, 2019, at 5 pm at Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, Timmonsville, SC, with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Floyd Funeral Home, Olanta. Born in Florence, SC, she was the daughter of the late J. Ben Vause and Millie Kirby Vause. She was a loving mother and faithful member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church. She was a past president of the Ladies Granger Circle, which was named in honor of her Mother-in-law Vernila Granger. She sang in the choir and taught the Junior Girls Sunday School class. After graduating from Winthrop University, she began teaching at Elim High School. Later, and for most of her career, she taught at Bonaire and Dewey Carter Elementary. She taught 3rd grade. She was an Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed watching game shows. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Benjamin (Benjy) Thomas Granger. Surviving are her husband, David (Dick) R. Granger Sr; and a son David R. (Patsy) Granger Jr. and three step-grandchildren, Ron (Karen) Stidham of Florence, Kent (Leslie) Stidham of Darlington, Melissa (Bert) Hall of Sumter.
