Shelbra Humphrey Bennett

OLANTA - Shelbra Jean Humphrey Bennett, 85, widow of Franklin Delano Bennett, Sr., passed away peacefully on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Southland Health Care Center in Florence, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Florence county, she was the daughter of the late K. C. Humphrey and the late Frances McElveen Humphrey. She was an avid basketball player, drum majorette, master chef in her kitchen, and was a very active member of the Olanta Baptist Church where she was deeply involved in many aspects of the church. She served as a member of the choir, teacher for the Edna Myers Sunday School class, member of the Womens Missionary Union, chairman of the Bereavement committee, member of the social committee, and member of the pastor search committee. There is no doubt that Shelbra loved God and sought to serve Him. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Rugenia B. Bennett; and one sister, Ann Stuckey. She is survived by one son; Franklin Delano Bennett, Jr. (Sandi) of Cades; one daughter, Kaye Bennett Moore (Blake) of Olanta; one brother, Kenneth C. Humphrey (Teresa) of Oxford, FL; grandchildren, Kelley Moore Reaves (Corey) of Birmingham AL, Dylan Myers Moore (Brooke Way) of Florence, Evalyn Caroline Bennett of Murfreesboro, TN, Kacey Keefe Serrano (Joe) of Cave Springs, AR, Darian Nicole Keefe of Bentonville, AR, and Austin Thomas Keefe of Fayetteville, AR; great-grands, Jack Bennett Reaves, Lillian Blake Reaves, Bowen Myers Moore, Sophia Louise Serrano, Scottie Rue Serrano, and Baylor Scott Keefe; and a brother-in-law E. B. “Buddy” Stuckey (Marga) of Bishopville. Services will be held at 3 pm Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Burton Welsh and Rev. Myers Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Olanta Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dylan Moore, Corey Reaves, Austin Keafe, John Keister Floyd, Robert Stuckey, James E. Sims. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (2 – 3PM) on Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Kaye B. Moore, 5156 Woods Bay Road, Olanta, SC 29114 The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001. The family would like to express their appreciation to the special caregivers of Agape Hospice and the staff of Southland Health Care Center for their love and tender care.
