Shelby Jean Buddin Bingham Columbia Mrs. Shelby Bingham, age 72, died Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 at Palmetto Richland Hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be 3pm Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. The family will receive friends at the home of Carol Ann Cook, 202 Shadowfield Lane, West Columbia on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011 between the hours of 6pm - 8pm. A Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Carroll Anderson Buddin and Ruby Ann Poston Buddin. Mrs. Bingham was educated at Great Falls and East Clarendon High Schools, Columbia School of Nursing, University of South Carolina where she received her degree in childhood education, Winthrop College and the College of Charleston. Mrs. Bingham has a deep love for music which afforded her many opportunities to work and perform in South Carolina. As a youth, she appeared on the Miriam Stevens Show, Artha Godfrey Show and Your Show of Shows as a vocalist. Having a greatly inherited love for children from her deceased mother, she opened and operated a preschool for children in Turbeville, South Carolina called "Mother Goose". Surviving are her husband, Wilbur "Clayton" Bingham, Sr. of Columbia. A daughter, Deidi (Jan) Bennett of Columbia. A son, Clay Bingham of Columbia. Three sisters, Carol Ann Cook of Columbia, Judy Carty of Palm Bay, Florida and Cindy Gordon of Sumter. A brother, James Buddin of Rock Hill, S.C. Three grandchildren, Stephanie Brewer, CJ Bingham, and Matthew Bingham. Two great grandchildren, Skylar Eudy and Peyton Eudy.
