Stella C. Dennis Scranton Stella Virginia Canady Dennis, age 88, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an illness. A funeral service will be held at 4 pm Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Salem Free Will Baptist Church of Scranton with burial in Lake City Memorial Park directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Friday (tonight) August 9, 2013 at the funeral home. Born in Robeson County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Canady and Julia Courtney Canady. She was a homemaker, member of the Salem Free Will Baptist Church, Ladies Auxiliary , music director and The Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Z. Dennis; three sisters, Judy Ward, Evie Mae Chavis, Larine Johnson; three brothers, Sam Canady, Harold Canady, Marvin Scarborough; one grandson, Todd Bryant. She is survived by four daughters, Linda D. (Jimmy) Stanfield of Sumter, Rachel D. (Wiley) Turner of Florence, Sherryl D. Jones of Scranton, Connie D. (Gerald) Coward of Scranton; one son, Terry (Ann) Dennis of Scranton; Ten grandchildren, twenty-three Great-grandchildren and one Great-great-grandchild.
