OLANTA – Susan Lazelle Floyd Hancock, 96, widow of Mendell Waudell Hancock, entered her eternal rest on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Heritage Home in Florence, SC. Born September 9, 1928, in Florence County she was a daughter of the late James Kelly Floyd and the late Colene Ham Floyd. Until her illness she was an active member of the Olanta Baptist Church, the Olanta Garden Club, and the Olanta Senior Adults. Mrs. Lazelle was the owner and operator of Floyd Flower and Gift Shop for over 60 years. She was a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Kevin Brent and Marie Atkinson Hancock of Summerton; two grandsons, Samuel Caleb Dukes of Los Angeles, CA, and Richard Connor Hancock of Summerton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson Carson Brent Hancock; a sister and brother-in-law, Ozeda and A.W. Clelland; and a brother and sister-in-law, James Kelton and Jeekie Floyd. A funeral service will be held 3pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the Olanta Baptist Church with Rev. Myers Graham and Rev. Harold Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Olanta Baptist Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Kell Floyd, Charles Cole, T. J. Joye, Leon Richburg, and Lyle Hancock. Active pallbearers will be David Hancock, James Sims, Donald McElveen, Kerry Floyd, Rick Atkinson, and Kent Gamble. A visitation will be held from 2 - 3pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in the sanctuary of the Olanta Baptist Church. The family request that memorials be made to Wedgefield Home for Kids, P.O.
