Talcie Hall Matthews, 83, of Scranton, SC, widow of Woodrow Matthews, passed away on Monday, August 5th, 2024 at her son's residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Sunday, November 3rd, 1940 in Florence County, South Carolina. Talcie worked as a fabric cutter with Lazy Boy Manufacturing and was a member of Beulah Free Will Baptist Church Pentecostal Faith. A funeral service will be held at 3PM on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Baker and Mr. Alton Yarborough, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery (1928 W. Old Number 4 Highway in Scranton). Active pallbearers will be Scott Matthews, Glenn Matthews, Tracy Coker, Ricky McCutcheon, Terry McCutcheon, and Will Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Gavin Matthews, and Jase Matthews. A visitation will be held from 2 – 3 PM at Floyd Funeral Home on Saturday, August 10, 2024 and at other times at the home of Donald Matthews, 1842 West Old Number 4 Highway, Scranton, SC. She is survived by her two sons, Donald Matthews and Ronald (Janet) Matthews, three grandchildren, Glenn (Fran) Matthews, Chasity (Will) Brown, and Scott (Emily) Matthews, and six great-grandchildren. Talcie is also survived by her brother, James (Marie) Lee; a sister, Loretta Tedder, and a special niece, Judy Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Talbert Hall and Carrie Miller Hall; her husband, Woodrow Matthews; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Matthews; a granddaughter, Anna Kathryn Matthews; and three siblings, Mary Ethel Gaymon, Margaret Springs, and David Christmas.
