Valerie Janice Phalen Turbeville Valerie Janice Phalen, age 58, passed away, Wednesday May 6, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Lake City Memorial Park, directed by Floyd Funeral Home. The family will greet friends tonight (Friday) from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Born in Waltham, Massachusetts she was a daughter of the late Roland Arthur Peppard and Merlene Winifred Cushman Peppard. She was a retired Advanced Certified Nursing Assistant. Preceded in death are a son, Greg Phalen; a sister, Victoria Porter; and a special friend, Curtis "Dagger" Anderson. Surviving are two daughters, Tina (Timmy) Poston of Scranton and Rhonda (Andy) McElveen of Turbeville. Two sons, Gorden (April) Phalen of Jacksonville, N.C., and Larry (Ashley) Phalen of Gaston, SC. One sister, Vanessa (Frank) Blanch of Savannah, Georgia. One brother, Victor Peppard of Myrtle Beach. Fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
