Virginia Gowdy Floyd Olanta Mrs. Virginia Gowdy Floyd, age 88, died Thursday, August 22, 2013 after an illness. A funeral service will be 3pm Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Henry Gowdy and Louvenia Floyd Gowdy. Mrs. Floyd was a retired Cosmetologist and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Floyd. Four brothers, William, Dwight, Ernest and Harry Floyd. Three sisters, Audrey Cannon, Orie Cole, and Roberta Dukes. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 1520 North Jones Road, Olanta, S.C. 29114.
