Virginia Mae Welch Driggers

TURBEVILLE – Virginia Welch Driggers, 88, widow of Hubert Lindberg Driggers, entered her eternal rest on Thursday, November 17, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Born August 6, 1934, in Florence County. She was a daughter of the late William Thomas Reddin Welch and the late Louise Powell Welch. She was a member of Frierson’s Tabernacle Church and the Cleo McKenzie Ladies Circle. She is survived by three daughters, Cindy (Terry) Blackmon of New Zion, Betty Lou (Lanny) Springs of Turbeville and Judy (Andy) Hall of Olanta; one son, Lynn Driggers of Turbeville; one special daughter, Sandra McAlister of Lake City; one daughter-in-law, Elaine Brewer Driggers of Turbeville; ten grandchildren, Mandy (Bernie) Moore, Christen (Eddie) Coker, Thomas Edward Driggers, Mitchell (Dee) Driggers, Brandi (Michael) Baker, Jenny (John) Quick, Erin (Eddie) Stelling, Will (Mike Lynch) Springs, Ethan Sivertsen, and Josh (Katlin) Sivertsen; sixteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Tommy Mitchell Driggers, Sr.; and one brother, Thomas Welch, Jr. A funeral service will be held 3 PM Sunday, November 20, 2022, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Benton officiating. Burial will follow in the Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Blake Driggers, Shay Hall, Eddie Stelling, Connor McKenzie, Ethan Sivertsen, Colten Baker. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (2 – 3 PM) on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the funeral home. The family request that memorials be made to the Frierson’s Tabernacle Building Fund c/o P.O. Box 366, Olanta, SC 29114. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to her sitters, Diane Windham and Rita Matthews and to Dee Stegall, Tonya Smith, and Michelle Baker of Amedysis Hospice for all of their love, care and devotion during Mrs. Virginia’s illness.
