LYNCHBURG – Mrs. Wanda Ann “Sue” Wallace Matthews, 76, passed away on May 2, 2024, surrounded by her children and family. Mrs. Matthews was born the daughter of the late Alene Cassidy Wallace and Lucas Wallace. She was a member of the Olanta Church of God of Prophecy. The true loves of her life were Jesus and her babies. Her children were her pride; her grandchildren her joy; and her great- grandchildren her smiles. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Alvin “Toonie” Matthews; three sisters, Doris Flowers, Kathy McClam, Margaret “Tency” Wilson; and one brother, Willie Wallace. Surviving are her daughters, Wanda (Scott) Etheridge and Allison (Buddy) Coker; three grandchildren, Janson (Casey) Price, Amberlin (Kodey) Bramlett, and Kalep Coker; three great grandchildren, Kingston Price, Tate Price, and Carsten Coker; two brothers, Dean Wallace and Kenny Wallace; and a host of nieces and nephews. A Funeral service will be held 3pm Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Olanta Church of God of Prophecy, 720 E. Main Street, Olanta, SC, with burial following in the Matthews Cemetery 1928 West Old #4 Highway, Scranton. Active Pallbearers, Janson Price, Kalep Coker, Danny Wallace, Timothy Matthews, Kody Bramlett, Heyward Matthews. Honorary Pallbearers will be Great Grandchildren, Kingston Price, Tate Price, and Carsten Coker. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (2 – 3pm) in the church sanctuary and at other times at 11865 Lynches River Road, Lynchburg The family wishes to express their appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers, Danny, Vicki Wallace, Tabitha Underwood and to the employees of Agape Hospice and Gentiva Hospice.
