Waymon A. Coker Turbeville Waymon A. Coker, age 89, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock PM Sunday May 23, 2010 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by FLOYD FUNERAL HOME of Olanta. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 PM Saturday May 22, 2010 at the funeral home. Mr. Coker was born at home in Turbeville on March 10, 1921, a son of the late Archie N. Coker and Minnie Turbeville Coker. He lived in Turbeville all of his life with the exception of the time he served his country during World War II. He was a farmer and worked in construction until his retirement in 1987. Waymon was a life time member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and served in many various offices, he was a charter member of American Legion Douglas Post # 132, where he served as Past Commander and Adjutant. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 42 years, Annie Laurie Moore Coker, three brothers, and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Marabelle MacCalla Coker of Turbeville, two sons, James Rollen (Rolla) Coker of Kiawah Island, and Archie (Pam) Coker of Sumter. A brother, Ralph L. (Sue) Coker of Columbia, two sisters, Tasca Bodenheimer of Columbia, and Mattie Ruth Lee of Olanta. Two granddaughters, April Coker of Tampa, Fl, Stephanie McLaughlin (Phil) of Turbeville, stepson, Richard ( Paula) MacCalla of Winterhaven, Fl, step-daughter, Katheryn Morgan of McPherson, KS, one great-granddaughter, Alexis McLaughlin, four step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
