Lynchburg – William Ellie Mims, Sr, age 79, died Friday, December 8, 2023, at Florence Place after an extended illness. Born in Camden SC, he was the son of the late Thomas Roy Mims and Elizabeth “Norris” Mims Green. He was the owner of his own business, which specialized in service and sales of cucumber and pickle processing equipment across North America. He was a member of Pickle Packers International and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Lynchburg. He is survived by three sons, William E. Mims, Jr of Lynchburg, Troy (Chrystal) Mims of Sumter and Timmy (Aimee) Mims of Sumter. Seven grandchildren: Troy H. Mims, Lucy Mims, Hayes Mims, Weston Mims, Hadley Mims, Hampton Mims, and Kohen Mims; one brother, Herbert (Linda) Mims of Turbeville; two sisters, Lydia (Ronald) Knight of Scranton and Ann (Charles) Wilkins of Flat Rock, NC.; and one sister-in-law, Diane Mims of Sumter. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas R. Mims Jr. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2170 Trinity Road, Lynchburg, SC, with Rev. Jim Ridenhour officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service in the Trinity United Methodist Church sanctuary on Sunday, December 17th.
