William Eugene Threet

Brother William 'Bill' Eugene Threet, age 89, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2019, following an illness at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, November 14, 2019, at Floyd Funeral Home in Olanta, SC, directed by Floyd Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. There will also be a celebration of life service to be held in Dalton, GA that will be announced at a later date. Brother Threet was born in Elk City, Oklahoma on January 26, 1930, son of the late Floyd Threet and Opal Harris Threet. Brother Threet was a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University and David Lipscomb University. He was a minister for the Church of Christ for 67 years where he shared his love for the Lord, his sense of humor, and his servants heart. He was known by family and friends as 'Papa Bill'. Over the years, Brother Threet did volunteer work for the American Cancer Society and was the poll master for the Celina, TN community elections. He was a past president of the Alumni association for Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, TN. For many years, he served as a counselor with the Horizons summer camp program at Freed-Hardeman University. He was the recipient of the 'Horizons Service Award' and after several years, the male service award was renamed as 'Horizons Bill Threet Service Award' and is still being awarded each year. Brother Threet was a devoted fan and supporter of the Alabama Crimson Tide and enjoyed spending time on the open road on his motorcycle. Surviving Brother Bill is his wife, Patricia Woody Threet of Florence, SC; daughter Anne (Sheldon) Filyaw of Cades, SC; son Gene (Mary Rose) Threet of Dalton, GA; granddaughters Eliska (Daniel) Manny of Dallas, GA, Kaycee (Brent) Bennett and Adrianna (Collin) Lee, both of Lake City, SC; grandson Jeffeory (Katie) Threet of Dacula, GA; great-grandchildren Brody Threet, Bryce Threet, Dalton Rose Manny, Kayden Carter, Grooms Bennett, Lily Jane Bennett, Lillie Cooper Bennett, and Marley James Bennett. Brother Threet was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Opal Threet; a sister Katherine Threet Yarbrough; and daughter Cynthia Threet Surgeon. The family would like to offer a special appreciation to Southland Healthcare and the McLeod Hospice House for the love, care, and support that was offered to Brother Bill.
