William H. Wilkes

OLANTA – William Henry Wilkes, 69, husband of Debra Elaine Neel Wilkes, died Friday, January 21, 2022, at MUSC Florence. Born February 14, 1952, in Olanta, SC, he was a son of the late Theodore Wilkes and Hazel Ellen Driggers Wilkes. He was a member of New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church and was retired from Korn Industries as a lumber inspector. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 50 years; three sons, William Travis Wilkes (Jessica) of Lake City, Timothy Scott Neel and Christopher Edward Welch both of Olanta; two daughters, Stephanie Elisabeth Sanderson (Richard) of Stafford, NY, and Sarah Brianna Welch of Olanta; six grandchildren, Caleb Travis Wilkes, Jonathan Stephen Lampley, Sylvia Lorraine Wilkes, Scarlett Breeann Neel, Emily Anne Wilkes, and Elisabeth Ann Sanderson; two brothers, Theodore “Teddy” Wilkes and Jimmy Wilkes both of Olanta; a special sister and brother in law, Donna and Brad Welch; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Randy Mikel Wilkes and Billy Cecil Wilkes. A funeral service will be held 3pm on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in the chapel of Floyd Funeral Home with Rev. Becky Jones and Rev. Bobby Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the New Covenant Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 2 – 3 P.M. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. CDC guidelines for the COVID-19 virus and social distancing will be observed during the service. All attendees will be required to wear a mask.
