Woodrow Matthews

Mr. Woodrow Matthews, age 82, died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at his home after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday January 17, 2017 at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel in Olanta with burial in Hicks Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday January 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Home. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Daniel Matthews and Lelar Miles Matthews. He was retired from Delta Mills where he worked for 33 years, and attended Beulah Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Lee, Cecil McCutcheon, and Ernestine Jones, two brothers, Bill Matthews and Edward Matthews, and a great-granddaughter, Anna Kathryn Matthews. Surviving are his wife, Talcie H. Matthews of Scranton, two sons, Donald (Sarah) Matthews and Ronald (Janet) Matthews both of Scranton, one sister, Jeanette (Dexter) Coker of Lake City, a brother, John Walter "Bob" Matthews of Scranton. Three grandchildren, Glenn Matthews, Chasity Brown, Scott Matthews, five great-grandchildren, Brayleigh Matthews, Hannah Grace Matthews, Cayden Brown, Gavin Matthews, and Jase Matthews.
