Donn Kell Floyd

February 19, 1957 — January 23, 2025

Mr. Donn Kell Floyd, age 67, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025 at MUSC in Marion, S.C. surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 1pm-3pm at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with a memorial service following at 3pm at Olanta Baptist Church, directed by Floyd Funeral Home. Born in Beaufort County, he was a son of the late J. Kelton Floyd and Jimlyn “Jeekie” Calder Floyd. Kell was a graduate of Hudgens Academy Class of 1975, then moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he graduated Gupton Jones Mortuary College, in 1977, with his Embalmer and Funeral Director’s License. Kell moved back to his hometown of Olanta, S.C. where he joined Floyd Funeral Home which was a family business started by his grandfather, J. Kelly Floyd back in 1927. Kell and his father not only operated the funeral home but also Floyd Ambulance Service where they cared for and transported many patients. He proudly served on the Olanta Fire Department, Olanta Business Association and Olanta Baptist Church Cemetery Committee. Kell was well known for his love of music and entertained many with his DJ services. He could fix just about anything and had a passion for helping others, a dedicated Nascar fan, loved the lake and enjoyed traveling since his retirement. Kell is survived by his loving wife, Mary “Sissy” Fountain Floyd, two daughters, Kimberly Floyd (Deon) Johnson of Lake City and Jennifer Floyd (Marcus) Lee of Florence. Two sons, Jason (Mykea) Jordan of Marion and Will (Alex) Jordan of Fort Mill, S.C. Grandchildren, Gabby, Leah, Kire, Nole, Reyn, Luke, Lawson (Victoria), Reagan. Sister, Lisa Floyd of Olanta, brother, Kerry (Georgia) Floyd of Florence and nephew Jordan Floyd (Kirsten) of Travelers Rest. Mother-in-law, Frances Pigate of Florence, and sister-in-Law, Patricia (Tres) Hyman of Timmonsville. His loving doggy companions, Bonzo and Truvy. Special thanks for their continuous care during his sickness to Dr. Bear J. Coney and Dr. Alvin Abinsay.
